WALNUT - Albert A. Jacobs, 85, of Walnut, died Friday, February 9, 2018 at his home. He was born on June 5, 1932 in Sibley, IL the son of Hans and Tina (Peters) Jacobs and was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. Albert was a proud veteran having served his country during the Korean War from 1951 to 1953. He married Marjorie Peterson on June 17, 1956 in Kasbeer, IL. Mr. Jacobs had worked as a woodworker for many years before retiring. He was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Walnut, the Walnut American legion Post 179 and the Wyanet VFW. Survivors include his wife Marjorie; two daughters: Ann (Tom) Dean of Loveland, OH and Carol (Bob) Howes of Walnut; two sons: Don (Kristina) Jacobs of Walnut and Rod (Jennifer) Jacobs of Walnut; 8 grandchildren; 1 great granddaughter and 2 step grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Allan; one daughter Mary Ellen; and his brother Edward. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 12, 2018 at 1 PM in Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Walnut, with the Reverend Brian Heller officiating. Private family burial will be at the Walnut Cemetery. There will be no visitation, with arrangements completed by the Garland Funeral Home in Walnut. In lieu of flowers, memorial in his memory to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.
