Alice L. Grimes, 83 of Tampico, died Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at CGH Medical Center in Sterling.

Alice was born on September 15, 1938 in Buda, Illinois, the daughter of Glynn Roy and Eva B. (Greathouse) Lewis. She married Harold Grimes on May 22, 1966 in Buda. He preceded her in death on August 18, 2013. Alice worked at Kraft Foods, then at the Dutch Diner in Tampico. She enjoyed baking, especially making pies, and playing cards, dominos, and slot machines. Alice was involved in her community and was a member of the Royal Neighbors, Lion’s Club, and the Tampico Historical Society.

Survivors include her daughter, Deborah Grimes Terbush of Tampico, Illinois; her son, Glynn Grimes of Wheaton, Illinois; two grandchildren, Hannah (Brian) Wilson and Jacob (Abigayle) Miller; and three great grandchildren, Kynlee and Keatyn Miller and Asher Wilson.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; one sister, Mary McDonald; and one brother, John Lewis.

Visitation will be Friday, December 17, 2021 from 10:30 – 11:30 A.M. at the Garland Funeral Home in Tampico. Funeral service will follow at 11:30 A.M. at the funeral home with Pastor Leanne Keate officiating. Burial will conclude at Tampico Memorial Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Tampico Fire Department, Ambulance or Community Building.
