Allan B. Morthland

Allan B. Morthland, 83, of Rock Falls, formerly of Tampico, died on Friday, January 26, 2024 at Allure of Sterling. Al was born May 5, 1940, in Morrison, the son of Donald and Gertrude (Geerts) Morthland. He was a proud veteran of the US Marine Corp. He retired from Northwestern Steel & Wire in 1997, following 30 years of service. Al enjoyed fast pitch softball, hunting, fishing, and especially gardening. 

Survivors include his children, Kim (Dean) Perino, of Deer Grove, Jay (Jean) Morthland, of Rock Falls, and Tim (Krista) Morthland, of Rock Falls; Scott Morthland (David Hubble), of Kentucky; one brother, Doug Morthland, of Morrison; one sister-in-law, Ruthe Morthland, of Morrison; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Al was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Donnie Morthland; and one nephew.

Visitation will be held at 10:00am on Friday, February 2, 2024 at Garland Funeral Home in Tampico. Funeral service will follow at 11:00am, with Pastor Leanne Keate officiating. Burial will conclude at Tampico Memorial Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Tampico Youth Summer Baseball and Softball Program.
