Ashley Elisabeth Medina, 39, of Chicago, passed away on Friday, October 17, 2025.
Ashley was born November 20, 1985, in Sterling, the daughter of Peter and Jane (Thompson) Miller. She attended Ohio Grade School and was a 2004 graduate of Bureau Valley High School. Ashley received her bachelor’s degree in fashion merchandising from the International Academy of Design and Technology. She was employed as a teacher’s aide at Burley Elementary School in Chicago, where she was flourishing. Ashley was extremely creative, with a keen sense of style. She always had her nails done, just like her grandma Betty. Ashley was simply a fun person to be around. She loved her children and her family with all her heart. Ashley attended Near West Vineyard Church in Chicago and was recently baptized alongside her children and her mother on the shores of Lake Michigan.
Survivors include her parents, Peter & Jane Miller, of Harmon; her children, Stella, Kingston, and Solene Medina; one stepdaughter, Alexis Medina, all of Chicago; her siblings, Jeremy (Michele) Miller, of Franklin Grove, Brandy (Nick) Grobe, of Dixon, Nick (Trisha) Miller, of Plainfield, and Ben (Crystal) Miller, of Walnut; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Ashley was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Ralph (Eunice) Thompson; paternal grandparents, Hugh (Betty) Miller.
Visitation will be held from 11:00am-1:00pm on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at Walnut Community Bible Church in Walnut. Funeral service will follow at 1:00pm, with the Reverend Rick Kuhr officiating. Cremation rites will then be accorded.
