Barbara Jean Brandau, 84 of Ohio, died Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at Heritage Health in Walnut.
Barbara was born on May 23, 1938 in Cambridge, Illinois, the daughter of John and Beulah (Palmer) Byers. She graduated from Ohio High School in the Class of 1956. She married Robert Brandau on June 23, 1957 at the First Lutheran Church in Ohio, Illinois. Barbara worked at their family owned grocery store, B and B Grocery in Ohio, for 35 years. She then worked for Sisler’s Ice Cream for 12 years after. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Ohio. She was a member of WELCA, she enjoyed exercising, working with flowers, her Wednesday morning coffee group, reading, and following her grandchildren and great grandchildren’s sports and school affairs.
Survivors include her husband, Robert; her two sons, James (Diane) Brandau of Ohio and Michael (Deborah) Brandau of East Moline; two brothers, Ray (Diane) Byers of Ohio and George (Sue) Byers of Princeton; one sister, Wanda Wright of Cuba, Ill.; five granddaughters, Michelle, April, Katie, Emilie, and Stefani; eleven great grandchildren; and four great, great grandsons.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, John; three sisters, Linda, Joyce, and Carol; and one great, great grandchild.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2023 from 10:00 A.M.- 12:00 P.M. at the First Lutheran Church in Ohio. Memorial service will follow at 12:00 P.M. at the church. Cremation rites have been accorded with the Garland Funeral Home in Walnut.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her memory to the First Lutheran Church in Ohio, the Ohio Library, or the Union Cemetery in Ohio.
