Betty Bass Obituary

Betty Jane Bass

Betty Jane Bass, age 99, of Walnut, died Sunday, January 31, 2021 at Heritage Health in Walnut.
Betty was born September 17, 1921 near Kasbeer, the daughter of Ferris and Gladys (Davis) Paden.  She attended the Union country school and graduated from Ohio High School.  She married Robert G. Bass on December 3, 1943.  He preceded her in death on February 14, 2013.
Betty was a member of the Walnut Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years and served on various committees.
In her younger days she loved playing golf with her sister Bobby and the ladies at Green River Country Club.
Through the years she was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mom, aunt, grandma and great grandma.  She loved cooking for her family and her pies were the best.
She was very fond of telling stories, especially about growing up on the farm with her three sisters in the 1920's and 1930's.
Betty enjoyed gardening, and she very much loved life out in the country where she saw beauty all around her in the flowers, trees and wildlife.
She is survived by her daughter, Anna(Ed) Donnelly, of Walnut; her son, George Bass of Loves Park; five grandchildren, Seth(Nicole) Bass, Erin (Matt) Davis, James (Jennifer) Donnelly, Laurie (Diego) Pascual and Katherine (Lex) Davies-Campbell; eight great-grandchildren, Tyler, Alexandra and Iona Davis, Teo and Pau Pascual and Tyler, Leah and Caden Donnelly; one sister-in-law, Janice Watkins of Georgia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; one son, Charles, in infancy; three sisters, Phyllis Pomeroy, Helen Swanson and Roberta Thompson; and one granddaughter, Bridget Donnelly.
A private graveside service was held and a family gathering will be held at a later date.
Memorials may be directed to the Walnut United Methodist Church and the Walnut Public Library.
