Betty L. Rollo, age 90, of Walnut, died Friday, March 29, 2024 at CGH Medical Center in Sterling.
Betty was born July 10, 1933 in Walnut, the daughter of James and Dorothy (Hoffman) McElvania. She married William Rollo on January 10, 1953 in Walnut. He preceded her in death on September 28, 1988. Betty was employed at Sterling Cleaners for many years. She was an active member of the Walnut Community Bible Church, as well as her former church, Walnut United Methodist Church. Betty enjoyed playing the piano and organ, singing, gardening, doing yard work, spending time with her family and friends, and donating her time as a “grandma” at the after-school program. She was known as “Grandma Betty” to the whole world.
She is survived by her two daughters, Sandra (Larry) Meyer of Harmon and Amy (Stephen) Peterson of Princeton; two sons, Alan (Starla) Rollo of Great Falls, MT and Harold (Verna) Rollo of Walnut; one brother, James (Linda) McElvania of SC; 11 grandchildren, Malinda (Ryan) Mustered, Angela Brewer, Christa (Sean) McKay, Eric (Heather) Meyer, Tracy (Jeffrey) Cain, Cari (Warne) Riker, Nicole (John) Mikrut, Brad (Kari Cissell) Rollo, Heather (George) Trifon, Allison (Dakota Dillin) Peterson, and Erin (Christian) Krafft; 38 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sister, Phyllis Johnson, and her beloved companion, Daisy, her dog.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2024 from 1:00 – 2:00 PM at the Walnut Community Bible Church. The memorial service will follow at 2:00 PM with Pastor Eldon Cook and Pastor Ryan Mustered co-officiating. Inurnment will be at Walnut Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established to the Alzheimer’s Association and the Walnut Community Bible Church.
