Beverly A. (Giles) Smith

Beverly A. Smith , 83, of Salem, MO, died Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at Heritage Health of Walnut.

She was born on July 20, 1939 in Melrose Park,  the daughter of Joseph and Elsie (Schmidt) Giles. She married Charles Smith on October 4, 1958 in Melrose Park. He preceded her in death on May 6, 2012. She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church of Salem, MO.

She is survived by her two daughters, Dena Hughes of Ohio, IL, Dawn (Jeff) Barnett of New Haven, MO; former son-in-law, Con Hughes of Ohio, IL; one brother, James (Donna) Giles of AZ; five grandchildren, Jennifer (Cody) Thompson of Walnut, TJ (Abie) Hughes of Ohio, IL, Sean (Danielle) Hughes of Walnut, Nicholas (Scarlett DeJesus) Hughes of CA, Kaitlyn (Evan Halbleib) Hughes of Walnut; 8 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; one daughter, Debbie Smith; one brother, Jack Giles.

A visitation will take place from 12PM-2PM on Sunday, March 19, 2023 at Garland Funeral Home of Walnut. Funeral services will follow the visitation at the funeral home and will take place at 2PM. There will be no burial. Cremation rites will be accorded. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date in Salem, MO.

Memorials have been established to Special Olympics and The American Cancer Society.
