Carol E. Spears, 84 of Prophetstown, died Saturday, May 06, 2023 at Heritage Health in Walnut.


Carol was born on August 6, 1938 in Morrison, the daughter of Chester and Alpha (Johnson) Wolber. She married James Spears on June 29, 1958. He preceded her in death on October 16, 2016. Carol was a dedicated homemaker who enjoyed baking, cooking, and spending her time with her grandchildren.


Survivors include her two sons, Bill (Connie) Spears of Tampico and Raymond (Deb) Spears of Princeton; one sister, Donna Jean Wahlgren of Mt. Morris; three grandchildren, Jeramie (Taylor) Spears, Nicole (Thad) Lartz, and Bradly (Brittany) Spears; three step grandchildren; four great, grandchildren, Brianne Spears, Bentley Spears, Alexandra Lartz, and Reese Spears; and six step great grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and six siblings, Jenna Lee Kulas, Alverta Habben, Joyce Sandrock, Barbara DeWald, Charles Wolber, and Lois Richmond.


A gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, May 11, 2023 from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. at the Garland Funeral Home in Tampico followed by a brief prayer to close.


In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Prophetstown Ambulance Service in her memory.
