Cheryl spent her life serving others, motivated by her faith and her family. She took pride in being a farm wife for over 56 years. She helped to build a successful farm business with her husband through countless field lunches for the crew, numerous parts runs, and never ending crop tours. She never expected any credit, but happily worked to keep the farm thriving. She also enjoyed serving at the churches she attended, Holy Trinity and Messiah. She often helped to provide lunches and meals for events and was an active member of the Altar Guild, Choir, Ladies Circle, and devotional groups.
Her hobbies through the years included golfing, sewing, ceramics, gardening, cooking, and baking. Cheryl loved to travel and had many memorable vacations. She enjoyed entertaining and often hosted gatherings in her home. In recent years, she looked forward to the evenings she played cards and the group she went out to eat with on Fridays.
Cheryl’s favorite role was as Mom, Grandma, and Great Grandma. She seemed to never miss a ball game, field trip, school event, or anything that involved her kids and grandkids. “Grandma Cheryl” was the ultimate babysitter and a trip to her house was always special. She provided a home filled with love, hugs, laughter, a little mischief, made to order meals, chauffeur services, root beer floats, cards and games, and a bottomless candy drawer. All of her family will forever cherish the memories that she made with them.
Visitation will be held on Friday May 6, 2022 from 4-7 PM at the Garland Funeral Home in Walnut. The funeral will follow on Saturday at 10:00 AM at Messiah Ev. Lutheran Church in Sterling. Burial will conclude in the Walnut Cemetery.
