Dale Eugene Wenzel

Dale Eugene Wenzel, 93 of Van Orin, IL, died Friday, September 8, 2023 at his home.

Dale was born on August 25, 1930 in Peru, IL, the son of John and Katherine (Kallner) Wenzel. He was a United States Army Veteran. He married Evelyn Rochnowski on August 23, 1952 in LaSalle, IL. Dale was a lifelong farmer and enjoyed traveling and golfing. He was a charter member of the LaMoille Lion’s Club and a member of the LaMoille American Legion.

Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Evelyn; eight children, Guy (Susan) Wenzel of LaMoille, Lynn (Randy) Perkins of Wadsworth, IL, Debbie (Bruce) Bartels of Waynesville, IL, Pamela Hiller of Normal, IL, Andrea (Paul) Couillard of Bloomington, IL, Dale Wenzel, Jr of Van Orin, Nathan (Robyn) Wenzel of Normal, IL, and Kim (Darin) Croegaert of Lindenhurst, IL; daughter-in-law, Wendy Wenzel of Knoxville, IL; twenty two grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, John Wenzel and Brett Wenzel, in infancy; son-in-law, Gary Hiller; three brothers; and one sister.

A visitation will be held on Friday, September 15, 2023 from 4:00-7:00 PM at the Bache Memorial Chapel in Van Orin. Funeral service will be on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at 11:00 AM at the Bache Memorial Chapel with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at the Van Orin Repose Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to the Garland Funeral Home in Walnut.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the LaMoille Lion’s Club or an organization of the donor’s choice.
