Daniel J. Wetzell

March 20, 1954 ~ April 24, 2021 (age 67)


Daniel J. Wetzell, 67, of Tampico, passed away April 24, 2021 at home with family by his side.  He was born March 20, 1954, in Sterling.  The son of John A. Wetzell and Anna Mae Wetzell Johnson (Driessens).


Daniel was a devoted father, son, and brother.  He farmed over 45 years and took pride in his lawn care business.  He enjoyed watching sports and spending time with his grandchildren.  Daniel will be remembered as an extremely hard worker.


Survivors include mother, Anna Mae Johnson of Prophetstown; one daughter, Jill (Jason) Mammosser of Rock Falls; two sons, Michael Wetzell of Tampico and Ryan (Melissa) Wetzell of Orion; two sisters, Nancy (Curt) Kolb of Erie and Peg (Steve) Mickley of Tampico; one brother, Tim (Jill) Wetzell of Prophetstown; special friend Su Swanson and 10 grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his father; grandparents, Paul and Monafae Wetzell and Julius and Doris Driessens.


Gathering of family and friends with 50 people maximum, will be held on Wednesday, April 28, 2021 from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. at the Garland Funeral Home, 115 Main Street, Tampico.  A private family service will follow at 6:00 P.M. with Reverend Antoni Kretowicz of St. Catherine Catholic Church in Prophetstown officiating.


In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.
