David Harold Etheridge
David Harold Etheridge, 83 of Ohio, IL, passed away on April 10, 2023, in Walnut, IL at Heritage Health.
A lifelong resident of Ohio, IL, David was the first of five children of Harold and Lela (Gustafson) Etheridge. He graduated from Ohio Schools and was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Ohio where he married Yvonne (Bonnie) K. Tornow on October 29, 1960. Dave was employed at Harper-Wyman in Princeton from 1957 until his retirement in 2003. Upon retirement he worked at Garland Funeral Home for several years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and enjoyed golfing in a league at Wyaton Hills and later as a member of Green River Country Club. He enjoyed golfing with his sons, brother Dan and friends, being with family, making homemade ice cream, and attending too-many-to-count activities with Bonnie at Ohio Schools and those for his grandkids as well.
Dave is survived by his wife Bonnie of 62 years in Ohio along with five children; Scott (Lisa) Etheridge of Bloomington, Jill (Jerry) Thompson of Princeton, Steve (Sandra) Etheridge of Springfield, Jennifer (Tom) Kiermaier of Nashville, TN, and Todd (Deborah) Etheridge of Dixon. He is also survived by ten grandchildren; Michael (Jourdan) Thompson, Andrew (Lindsey) Etheridge, Molly (Laura Wagley) Etheridge, Clark Etheridge, Alyssa (Eric Veverka) Thompson, Connor (Hayley) Etheridge, Mitchell Etheridge, Logan Etheridge, Carter Etheridge, and Nolan Etheridge. Dave also has two great grandchildren; Cayden and Avery Etheridge. Also surviving are two step-grandchildren; Leah King and Callie Rae Hite. Dave is survived by three brothers; Dan(Donna) Etheridge of Amboy, Joe (Sue) Etheridge of Glendale Hts, and Mike (Michele) Etheridge of Phoenix, AZ, and a sister-in-law Joanne Tornow of Rockford. Many nieces, nephews, and cousins were also held dear in his heart. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister and brother-in-law Carol (Don) Townsend, and brother-in-law Jim Tornow.
The Rosary will be recited at 3:30 PM on Friday April 14, 2023 followed by the visitation from 4-7 PM at the Garland Funeral Home in Walnut. Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Saturday at 10 AM in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Ohio, with the Reverend Thomas Shaw, Celebrant officiating. Burial will conclude at St. Mary Cemetery, Ohio.
Memorials may give in his memory to Immaculate Conception Church or Ohio Volunteer Fire Department.
