David A. Hassler, 79 of Harmon, died Sunday, January 9, 2022 at OSF St. Clare Medical Center, Princeton.
David was born on April 17, 1942 in Walnut, Illinois, the son of Murray and Virginia Mae (Sterling) Hassler. He married Peggy E. Thompson on January 9, 1960 in Walnut. David owned and operated Hassler Construction in Walnut for 35 years, retiring in 2007.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy of 62 years; one daughter, Diana Benevento of Walnut; three sons, Dave Hassler of Princeton; Don (Carla) Hassler of Whitewater, Wisconsin, and Darren (LeAnn) Hassler of Foley, Alabama; one sister, Sue (Richard) Frank of Ohio, Illinois; one brother, Robert Hassler of the Quad Cities, Illinois; nine grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Dawn; one sister, Judy; one brother, Joe; and one sister-in-law, Janet.
Cremation rites have been accorded with the Garland Funeral Home and Crematory in Walnut. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is established in his memory.
