David Jacobson Obituary

David M. Jacobson, age 87, of New Bedford, died Friday, May 23, 2025 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

David was born December 19, 1937 in Bureau County, the son of Julian T. and Nellie O. (Young) Jacobson.  He married Judith Snodgrass on June 30, 1960 at New Bedford Christian Church.  In their 64 years of marriage, they enjoyed many years of traveling, visiting national parks, attending activities of their kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids, and spending time with family and friends.  She preceded him in death on August 25, 2024. 

David was a life-long member of the New Bedford Christian Church, serving as an elder, financial secretary and as a youth group leader.

David worked for IDOT before becoming a longtime employee of Northwestern Steel and Wire, retiring in 1992.

He is survived by his three children, Lori (Marty) Roush of Manlius, Joni (Steve) Morman of Peoria, and Michael (Lori) Jacobson of Wyanet; six grandchildren, Jeremy Roush, Aaron (Cassie) Roush, Zach Jacobson, Jessica (Jeff) Fishel, Jamie Jacobson, and Gabe (Shannon) Funk; ten great grandchildren, Sophie, Mya, T.J., Lillie, Easton, Camreigh, Ava, Titus, Harleigh, and Jalen; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Jacobson; his parents; three brothers, Eugene Jacobson, Charles Jacobson, and Danny Paul Jacobson; and two sisters, Kathryn Last and Donna King.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 29, 2025 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM at New Bedford Christian Church.  The memorial service will follow at 5:00 PM with Pastor Troy Campbell officiating.  Inurnment will be at Greenville-Fairfield Cemetery following the memorial service and a dinner will be served at New Bedford Christian Church after.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the New Bedford Christian Church.
