Delora Keleher Obituary

Delora Keleher, age 92, formerly of Walnut, died Tuesday, May 20, 2025 at Alto Assisted Living in Grayslake, IL.

Delora June Beaber was born in Peoria, IL on June 25th, 1932 and grew up in Kasbeer and Princeton, IL with her parents Jacob and Pansy Beaber. She attended Princeton High School.

Delora married John (Jack) Keleher in 1958, and they resided in Walnut, IL from 1958 to 1978 when they moved to Rock Falls, IL.  Delora maintained a beauty shop in the back of their Walnut home for many years. In Rock Falls she also worked for the Rock River Review newspaper for many years. Following Jack’s passing in 2018 Delora moved to Grayslake, IL to be closer to family.

She was a member of the Walnut First Christian Church since 1958, and a member of the church choir and Christian Women’s Fellowship.

Delora is preceded in death by her parents in 1977 and 1980, and husband Jack in 2017. She is survived by her sons Mike (Micheale) Keleher of Grayslake, IL, Dan (Carole) Keleher, granddaughter Jackie Keleher (Ethan Amis), Gig Harbor, WA, granddaughter Jennifer Hein, Hainesville, IL, grandson John Hein, Shaumburg, IL and a particular apple of Delora’s eye, Great-Grandson Kearin Hein of Hainesville, IL who always had a hug and a smile for his “Gramma D”.

Delora was also a bonus grandmother to Rock Falls neighbors Erica Amezola, Carlos Salazar, Anna Padilla, Alajandra Padilla and Gabriel Padilla. She was lifelong best friends with Roberta Heidenrich of Walnut, IL, and close with her sisters in laws Mary Ann Gaunt, Rockford, IL and Linda Carr, Walnut, IL and will missed by all.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at the Garland Funeral Home in Walnut.  The funeral will follow at 11:00 AM with Pastor Brian Wilson of the First Christian Church in Walnut officiating.  Burial will be at Walnut Cemetery.  A luncheon will be served at the First Christian Church in Walnut following the burial.

A memorial has been established to the First Christian Church in Walnut.
