Dennis James O’Brien, 61 of Princeton, formerly of Ohio, IL, passed away Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at his home.
Dennis was born on October 11, 1961 in Princeton, the son of William and Alice (Schultz) O’Brien. He graduated from Ohio High School. Dennis married Tina Jilderda on March 15, 1986 in Ohio, IL. He worked for 38 years at Monier Pork Farm as the farm manager. When he wasn’t working in the field or with pigs, he was spending time with his two granddaughters, watching them dance, tumble, and play softball and t-ball. He was a former member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Ohio and most recently a member of St. Louis Catholic Church in Princeton. Dennis was an Ohio Township Trustee for many years, a former member of the Ohio Volunteer Fire Department, a former member of the Pork Producers, and the Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include his wife, Tina; three children, Brittany (Allen) Sledgister of Princeton, Zachary O’Brien of Ohio, IL, and Samantha O’Brien of Princeton; his mother-in-law Marsha Jilderda of Dixon; his siblings, Penny (Rick) Farringer of Lee Center, Scott (Tera) O’Brien of Cummings, GA, Vickie Dzurisin of Walnut, Craig (Andrea) O’Brien of Flora, IN, and Brenda (Jeff) Monier of Walnut; two granddaughters, Sophia and Olivia Sledgister; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, Tom Jilderda; and one brother, Francis O’Brien.
A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at 9:00 A.M. at St. Louis Catholic Church in Princeton with Monsignor James Kruse and Reverend Andru O’Brien Con-celebrating. A celebration of life will be held later that day at the Underground in Princeton, from 1:00-5:00 P.M. Cremation rites have been accorded with the Garland Funeral Home in Walnut. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
