Donald Christensen Obituary

WALNUT – Donald E. Christensen, age 92, died Thursday, November 2, 2023 at Liberty Village in Princeton.

Don was born on August 28, 1931 in Walnut the son of Ernest and Fern Marie (Albus) Christensen.  He married Nancy Lee Fritz on March 22, 1957 in Walnut.  Don was self employed for most of his life, most recently operating Christensen Trucking Company.  Don also served as the Walnut Township Road Commissioner for many years.  In his retirement he still enjoyed driving for several companies including McDonald Trucking.

Don served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was a life long member or the Walnut American Legion Post 179.  He was also a member of the First Christian Church in Walnut.  He was an avid fan of both the Chicago Bears and the Chicago White Sox.  One of his biggest joys was spending time with his family at their cabin on the Rock River, especially their annual Labor Day weekend celebration.  

Survivors include, his wife Nancy Christensen of Walnut, his daughter, Jan (Joseph) McDonald of Ohio, his son, Jeff (Karen) Christensen of Loon Lake, WA, five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his two brothers, Richard and Leo Christensen.

Visitation will be from12:00 PM – 1:00 PM Thursday, November 9, 2023 at the Garland Funeral Home in Walnut.  Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM with Pastor Micheal Freeman officiating.  Burial with military honors will follow at Walnut Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.
