Donald Kramer Obituary

Donald A. Kramer, 86, of Walnut, died on Thursday, April 13, 2023 at Heritage Health of Walnut.

He was born on December 29, 1936 in Freeport, the son of Robert and Iva (Rippy) Kramer. He married Judy Near on June 7, 1956 in Ottawa. She preceded him in death on January 10, 2014. He later married Joanne Fritz-Chapman on August 11, 1978 in Sterling. She preceded him in death on November 11, 2015.

Donald was a member of Walnut Community Bible Church. He worked for Northwestern Steel and Wire for 31 years, retiring in 1986. From 1986-1989 Donald went on to own and operate his own business, Kramer’s Building and Remodeling. After years of owning and operating his own business he later went on to be the caretaker of Frymire Farms in rural Walnut for many years. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, riding his motorcycle, and camping. He loved to work in his yard and tend to his garden as well as spend time tinkering in his garage. He was a hard worker, always keeping himself busy, as well as always helping others.

He is survived by one daughter, Stacey Hans of Sterling; one son, Tim (Shannon) Kramer of Sterling; son in law, Jerry Owens of Walnut; two brothers, Ronald Kramer of Carrolton, IL, David (Sue) Kramer of Summerset, KY; one brother-in-law, Bill Stanfield of Rock Falls; ten grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wives; one daughter, Joanna Owens; three sons, Dean Kramer, Jim Chapman, Gary Chapman; one sister, Carol Stanfield; one brother, Larry Kramer; one sister-in-law, Shirley Kramer; two beloved fur friends, Benji and Edith.

A Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at 10AM at Walnut Community Bible Church, 125 Jackson St, Walnut, IL 61376 with Pastor Eldon Cook, officiating. There will be no burial at this time. Cremation rites have been accorded.

Memorials have been established to Heritage Health of Walnut.
