Eva Blanche Burkey, age 94, of Walnut, died Monday, July 4, 2016. Eva Blanche was born April 14, 1922 in Walnut the daughter of Wayne and Lola (Carey) Johnson. She married Philip A. Burkey on July 25, 1941 in Walnut. He preceded her in death on April 26, 2003. Eva Blanche was a homemaker and was a member of the Walnut United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School, attended Bible study classes and was an Amity Class member. She was an avid reader, quilter and was a member of Dodge Club and Good Morning Circle. She enjoyed traveling and loved spending time with her family. Survivors include one daughter, Lois Claire (David) Behrens of Walnut; one son, Bruce Alan (June) Burkey of Effingham; one son-in-law, Arlyn Loos of Polo; one sister, Carolyn (Howard) Anderson of Princeton; nine grandchildren, Brian, Jeff, Janell, Britt, Leigh, Neil, Brandon, Reid and Grant; and fourteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and one daughter, Lyna Anne Loos. Visitation will be Thursday, July 7, 2016 from 9:00 - 10:45 AM at the Walnut United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be Thursday at 11:00 AM at the church with Reverend Mark Harkness officiating. Burial will be at Walnut Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established to the Walnut United Methodist Church and the World Wildlife Fund.
