Gary W. Sarver

Gary W. Sarver, age 72, of Walnut, died Friday, January 31, 2025 at his home.

          Gary was born May 17, 1952 in Princeton, IL, the son of Everett, Sr. and Mary (Headspeth) Sarver.  He married Nancy Anderson on March 18, 1972 at the Walnut Methodist Church.  Gary was the Village Superintendent of Walnut for 29 years retiring in 2010.  He had also been employed at Harper-Wyman in Princeton, Steele and Hauberg, and Walnut Custom Homes.  He was formerly the fire chief of Walnut for a number of years and on the fire department for over 20 years.  He was also a former member of the Walnut JCs.  Gary was a devoted father and grandfather and enjoyed camping and NASCAR racing.

          He is survived by his wife, Nancy Sarver of Walnut; one daughter, Deanna (Ben) Tedder of Bolingbrook; one son, Joel (Linda) Sarver of Sheffield; two sisters, Deb (Mike) Andrew of Walnut and Vicki Benson of Columbia, TN; one brother, Everett (Lee) Sarver, Jr. of Walnut; five grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

          He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Sue Maynard and Linda Elmore.

          A gathering of family and friends will be held on Sunday, February 2, 2025 from 1:00 – 2:00 PM at the Walnut Community Bible Church.  The memorial service will follow at 2:00 PM with Pastor Eldon Cook officiating.

          A memorial has been established.
