Gary “Pukey” Troxell, 77, of Dixon, died on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at KSB Hospital of Dixon.
He was born on August 22, 1947, in Harmon, Illinois, the son of Glenn and Ella Mae (Owens) Troxell. He married Mary Jean McGonigle in Harmon, Illinois. She preceded him in death on November 11, 2006. Gary retired from Walnut Custom Homes. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, taking vacations, and spending time with family and friends. He traveled to many farms and did a lot of farm chores over the years which he loved. He was a longtime member of the Hookers Club of Walnut. He will be dearly missed.
He is survived by three daughters, Mary Troxell of Dixon, Teresa Martin of Rock Falls, Lisa (Russ) Lauritzen of Tampico; two sisters, Kay Brown of Harmon, Mary (Marvin) Finkle of Sterling; two brothers, Thomas (Gwen) Troxell of Walnut, Doug (Shirla) Troxell of Rock Falls; ten grandchildren, Beth, Big Chris, Tommy, Lil Chris, Samantha, John, Anthony, Leia, Duncan, and Mary Jo; five great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; one son, Tommy Reiss; life partner, Mary Jean Troxell; three sisters, Glenda Kaecker, Patricia Richardson, Sharon Hudson; five brothers, Donald, Robert, Steve, James, and Ronald Troxell.
A gathering of family and friends will take place from 5P.M.-6P.M. on Friday, September 13, 2024 at Garland Funeral Home of Walnut. Military Honors will take place at 4:45 P.M. at the funeral home prior to the start of the gathering.
