Hal Cagle Obituary

Hal Kenneth Cagle, 88, of Tampico, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Monday, September 9, 2024, in Tampico.

Hal was born on August 3, 1936 in Chicago, IL, the son of Catherine Cagle. He was a proud member of the US Marine Corps. While serving his country, Hal was stationed overseas in Lebanon and Japan where he enjoyed exploring the cultures and meeting people from many walks of life. Once honorably discharged from the service, Hal became a truck driver for many years. He did many things such as: hauling mail for the US Post Office, owned his own dump truck business, and drove a bus for Greyhound. Hal loved sharing his experiences and sights that he saw along the way with his family. Hal was very passionate about trucking. After retiring from the trucking industry, Hal became involved serving his fellow veterans while volunteering at the local VFW. In Genoa, IL,  he became the VFW post commander, and enjoyed organizing fish fry’s and spaghetti dinners for the community. Hal also enjoyed deer hunting, firearms, and fishing. Above all, Hal most enjoyed his life when it was with his family. He was a devoted family man who cherished the relationship he had fostered with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Hal loved his family with his entire being, and he will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his daughter, Tina Cagle of Sterling; two sons, Kenneth Cagle of Sterling, Donald Cagle of Lombard; three grandchildren, Amber Coplien of Tampico, Robert and Margaret Zais of Tampico, Kenneth “Kenny” Cagle of Augusta, Maine; eleven great grandchildren, Paris, Alexus, Peyton, Tori, Jaiden, Chloe, Rylee, Parker, Emma, Charlotte, Caroline.
