WALNUT - Harold C. "Mick" Dietz, age 93, formerly of Harmon died Saturday, August 20, 2016 at the Heritage Manor in Walnut. Harold was born on August 21, 1922 in Harmon the son of William P. and Ethel (Parker) Dietz. He married Jean Blocher on June 2, 1944 in Maquoketa, Iowa. She preceded him in death on September 1, 2011. Harold farmed all his life in the Harmon area and was a truck driver with the Teamsters Union . He was a member of Harmon United Methodist Church and the Walnut Masonic Lodge for over 70 years. Harold was involved in the local CB Radio club for several years and was an avid NASCAR fan. Survivors include, two daughters, Mary (Tom) Parrott of Fruitland, Iowa and Diane (Dave) Schoenholz of Dixon; five sons, Mike (Sally) Dietz of Georgia, John Dietz of Nevada, Joe (Carol) Dietz of Walnut, Jimmy (Anita) Dietz of Texas and David (Susan) Dietz of Walnut; two brothers, Lowell "Bud" (Arlene) Dietz of Lanark and Jack (Gloria) Dietz of Harmon; 30 grandchildren; many great grand and great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Leota Johnson and Wilma Blackorby; one daughter, Wilma Paris. Visitation will be Thursday, August 25, 2016 from 9:30-11:00 A.M. at the Walnut Community Bible Church, Walnut. Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday at the church with Reverend Eldon Cook and Reverend Leanne Keate co-officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Harmon. Arrangements were completed by the Garland Funeral Home, Walnut. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.
