James Ganschow Obituary

           James William Ganschow went home to Jesus on Wednesday, August 3, 2022.  He was born on July 16, 1957, the son of Dean and Delores (Willivize) Ganschow.  He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Debra Heidenreich on August 4, 1979.  They were blessed with three children, Jacqueline Marie, Michael James, and Angela Mae.  He was a 1979 University of Illinois graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture.  After graduating, he came back to Walnut to live his dream of being a farmer.  He spent 43 years farming with the last 14 years working side by side with his son.  He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who showed his abundant faith in God every single day.  He will be deeply missed by his family.

            James was previously an Elder and past board member of the Walnut Community Bible Church.  He had been a member of the Bureau County Farm Bureau Board and was a graduate of the Farm Bureau Agriculture Leadership of Tomorrow (ALOT) leadership program.  He was a past board member for the Walnut Elementary School and Lamb and Wool Producers.

            He is survived by his wife, Debra of Walnut; his three children, Jacqueline (Tyler) Nichols of Batavia, Michael (Lindsey) Ganschow of Walnut, and Angela (John) Roberts of Decatur; his father, Dean Ganschow; three siblings, Rick (Cindy) Ganschow, Jeanne (Ron) Wilt, and Barb (David) Bailey; and seven grandchildren, Ellie and Levi Nichols, Brooklynn, Tucker and Hunter Ganschow, and Lillian and Evelynn Roberts.

            He was preceded in death by his mother, Delores.

            Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 7, 2022 from 2:00-5:00 PM at the Garland Funeral Home in Walnut.  The funeral will be on Monday, August 8, 2022 at 10:00 AM at the Walnut Community Bible Church with Reverend Eldon Cook officiating.  Burial will be at Walnut Cemetery.

            Memorials have been established to the Walnut Community Bible Church and the Walnut Rescue Unit.
