James A. O. Jacobs, age 86, of Morton, formerly of Ohio, IL, died Saturday, December 21, 2024 at his home.
James was born May 16, 1938 in Galesburg, the son of James and Margarite (Bunch) Jacobs. He served in the US Air Force and received his Honorable Discharge on February 28, 1963. James married Carol A. Nichols on March 4, 1961 in Baltimore, MD. She preceded him in death on December 18, 2003. After his discharge from the Air Force, he and his wife moved back to Galesburg where he was employed by the railroad for a number of years. In the spring of 1967, they moved to Ohio, IL and he was employed at Albrecht Well Drilling for more than 42 years. During part of those 42 years, James managed a Hardware Store for Albrecht Well Drilling. After he retired in 2009, he moved to Morton, IL to be closer to his Church family. That was very important to him as they were not able to have any children. James and his wife were members of Living Church of God, starting to attend the Church in 1963. They both were active Church members, helping in every way they were able.
He is survived by his sister, Rebecca Beary and his nephew, Jay Beary.
He was preceded in death by his wife and parents.
A private burial will be held at Limerick Cemetery in Kasbeer at a later date.
