James Mattingly Obituary

Location: Walnut, Illinois
James S. "Jimbo" Mattingly, 77 of rural Walnut, died Thursday, April 12, 2018 at Heritage Health in Walnut. Jim was born on May 23, 1940 in Princeton to Spalding and Marcella (Kolp) Mattingly. He married Linda Berry November 27, 1965 in Walnut. He graduated from Walnut High School in 1959. He was a farmer and worked at Walnut Custom Homes later in life until retirement. He loved baseball, football and hunting. He loved attending his kids' and grandkids' sporting events. He was an avid outdoorsman and played fast pitch baseball well into his 50s. Survivors include two sons, Matt (Shannon) Mattingly of Manlius and Dave (Jennifer) Mattingly of Walnut; one daughter, Suzanne (Jesse) Zeller of Mackinaw, IL; his mother, Marcella Mattingly of Walnut; six grandchildren, Dillon (Abbie) Mattingly, Cody Mattingly, Austin Seitter, Blake Mattingly, Keely Zeller and Meesha Zeller; three great-grandchildren, Landen Mattingly, Maci Mattingly and Avereigh Mattingly; one brother, Bob (Bonnie) Mattingly of Deer Grove; two sisters, Lola Carey of Walnut and Kelli (Robin) Hewitt of Manlius; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and one sister, Geraldine Dysart. Visitation will be Monday, April 16, 2018 from 10-11 AM at the Garland Funeral Home in Walnut. Funeral service will follow at 11AM at the funeral home with Reverend Brian Moore and Reverend David Berry, Co-officiating. Burial will be at Manlius Cemetery in Manlius. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in his memory.
