John Robert Fritz

John Fritz, 79, of Walnut, died on Thursday, October 20, 2022, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. John was born on April 9, 1943, in Princeton, the son of Donald and LaVerne (Devine) Fritz. He married Elaine Beauprez on October 10, 1980, in Moline. John was a graduate of Walnut High School. He was a proud veteran of the US Army and served in the Vietnam War. John was employed at Kewanee Manufacturing for many years. He was also a member of St. John Paul II Catholic Church in Kewanee, Flemish American Club, and Kewanee VFW. John enjoyed playing tennis, dancing, and taking walks. He also loved playing board games with his grandchildren, as well as attending their sporting events.

Survivors include his wife, Elaine Fritz of Kewanee; his mother, LaVerne Fritz of Walnut; one son, David Fritz of Peoria; three daughters, Debbie (Jeff) Pierson of Red Oak, IA, Sherri (Rick) Matuszyk, and Jill (Joe) Matuszyk, all of Kewanee; three brothers, Ronald (Patricia) Fritz of Ballwin, MO, Dennis (Gail) Fritz of Geneva, and Gary (Deborah) Fritz of McFarland, WI; two sisters, Nancy (Bill) Ganshow of Oxford, IA, and Susan (John) Gorman of Princeton; 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his father.

Cremation rites will be accorded. Graveside service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, October 29, 2022, at Walnut Cemetery, with Reverend Thomas Shaw officiating. Military honors will follow.
