BROWNSBURG, IN - Karen Jean Rosene, 80, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 19, 2023. Her pain is no more and the angels have ushered her into heaven.
Karen married in 1964 and for 33 years resided in Topeka, Kansas with sons Brad and Scott. In 2007, Karen and Rich moved to Brownsburg, Indiana, which they have called home for more than 17 years.
Before her illness made it too difficult to travel, she logged thousands of miles on numerous trips to Colorado, South Carolina, Missouri, Kentucky and Illinois. There were trips to visit family, trips with family, and even a visit to the Kentucky Derby.
The phone calls, flowers, and visits Karen received during the final weeks of her life were a tremendous source of joy, peace, and comfort to her. She was also blessed to meet her first great-grandchild, Teddy Phillips, at the hospital just weeks before she passed.
Karen, the eldest of three children, was born on November 12, 1942, to Donald and Delores Reddick in Moline, Illinois. Her jobs, which she worked after attending secretarial school in Topeka, included Executive Secretary at Independent Telephone Company Association of Kansas, BIKE Division of Johnson & Johnson and Franklin Life Insurance.
Karen loves planning events and parties for family and friends. She was well known for making sure that no special event was without helium-filled balloons.
Karen was passionate about all things political, will forever be known for her delectable frosted brownies and loved hearing stories about the adventures and achievements of her children and grandchildren.
Karen’s spiritual journey began when a pastor at a church in Topeka recruited her and Rich to teach Sunday School to a group of 6th graders. She was matched to an older couple who mentored her and led her to Jesus after joining a church plant a few years later.
Karen is survived by husband Richard Rosene, sons Bradley Rosene and Scott Rosene, granddaughters Sydney Rosene, Sheridan Rosene, Samantha Rosene, Paige Little and Hadley Rosene, grandson Treyvon Little, and great-grandson Teddy Phillips.
Karen is the eldest of three children. She leaves brother Gary Reddick and nieces Angie Allen and Karla Webb. Karen was preceded in death by sister Beverly Reddick.
Gathering of family and friends will take place from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM Saturday, August 5, 2023 at the Garland Funeral Home in Tampico. Memorial service will be held at 11:00AM with Pastor Ed Rotz officiating.
