Kay Lancaster, age 72, of Tampico, was received by the angels on Thursday, July 6, 2023 at Rock River Hospice and Home in Sterling surrounded by her family.
Kay was born January 29, 1951 in Kewanee the daughter of Francis and Billye (McFarland) Brady. She married Ronald G. Lancaster, Sr. on June 25, 1966 in Prophetstown. Kay was employed at Sterling Multi-Products for 15 years, PLT School District, R and B Dutch Diner, and Whiteside County Senior Center. She also worked with her husband for many years in the hydraulic business and then in the motorcycle restoration business.
She will be sadly missed by her husband, Ronald G. Lancaster, Sr. of Tampico; two daughters, Shanda (Ed) Milder of Muscatine, IA and Denise Lancaster of Tampico; two brothers, Stephen (Lynn) Brady and Michael (Barbara) Brady both of Tampico; four grandchildren, Dylan (Jamie) Marschang, David Curley, Wyatt (Mikayla Shafer) Marschang, and Hailey (Taran) Daffara; and three great grandchildren, Emma Curley, Christopher Hester, and Spencer Marschang. She also had many, many people who she brought in and treated as family throughout the years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Ronald Glen Lancaster, Jr.; and one daughter at birth.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2023 from 1:00 – 3:00 PM at the Garland Funeral Home in Tampico. The funeral will follow at 3:00 PM with Butch McNinch officiating. Burial will be at Tampico Memorial Cemetery. At Kay’s request, a traditional Irish wake will be held at the Kickback Saloon in Tampico following the services.
Memorials have been established to Rock River Hospice and Home and the Tampico Ambulance.
