Kenneth E. Bomleny, 95, of Tampico, returned to the Lord peacefully on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. Kenneth was born on September 24, 1926 in Annawan, the son of Constant and Sadie (Croegaert) Bomleny. A lifelong farmer, he served in the US Army from 1953-1955 during the Korean War. He was stationed mainly at the Fort Lewis Army Base near Seattle, WA. Kenneth was a devout Catholic and a lifelong member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Walnut.
In addition to his beloved farm cats, survivors include one sister, Constance (Edward) Neahring of Washington; four nieces, Susanne (Tom) Myers of Washington, Colleen (Dave) Beck of Monticello, Terri Cushing of Bloomington, and Cindy Gessling of Milton, WI; one nephew, Mark (Emily Henkels) Neahring of Glen Ellyn, nine great nieces and nephews, Trenton, Kristin, Lucas, April, Brianna, Tyler, Willow, Olive, and Brian; and 4 great great nieces and nephews. His love and generosity will leave a lasting mark on everyone he knew.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Donald Bomleny; and one nephew, David Bomleny. He passed on the same day of his father's death 30 years ago.
Visitation will be held from 3:00-5:00pm on Sunday, December 5, 2021 at Garland Funeral Home, 14733 IL Rt 92, Walnut. Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00am on Monday, December 6, 2021 at St. John’s Catholic Church, 204 N Main St, Walnut, with Reverend Thomas Shaw officiating followed by a luncheon at the church. Burial will conclude at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Annawan.
