Kenneth Braasch

Kenneth W. Braasch 77, of Tampico, died on Monday, January 16, 2023 at CGH Medical Center of Sterling, surrounded by his family.  

He was born on May 17, 1945 in Princeton, the son of Herbert and Helen (Lee) Braasch.  He married Diana Taets on October 3, 1964 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Tampico. She preceded him in death on September 13, 2021. He worked at Eagles Grocery Store for many years. He later retired from NorthWestern Steel and Wire as a Millwright. Ken was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and always went the extra mile for his family. He enjoyed his days of going to different casinos with his wife by his side and continued to enjoy that after her passing. He also enjoyed spotting deer in the fields. He will be remembered dearly for his generosity he showed his loved ones throughout his life.

He is survived by one daughter, Kristina (Jake) Jacobs of Walnut; two sons, Kevin Braasch of Springfield, Steve Braasch of Tampico; one sister, Brenda (Daryl) DeWaele of Walnut; seven grandchildren, Matthew Braasch, Courtney (Grant) Goltz, Kody (Jehna) Church, Nicole (Jelante Young) Braasch, Tyler Braasch, Kolton (Lexi Ryan) Church and Alex Braasch; two step grandchildren, Jaimie (Ryan) Rosenthal, Jessica (Chance) Blumhorst; one great grandchild, Reese and two on the way.

He is preceded in death by his wife; parents; one daughter, Lisa in infancy; two sisters, Barbara Rude and Marilyn Bowers.

A visitation will take place from 6PM-8PM on Friday, January 20, 2023 at Garland Funeral Home of Tampico. Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30AM on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Tampico with Reverend Richard Russo, officiating. Burial will follow and take place at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery of Tampico.

In Lieu of flowers, memorials have been established.
