Larry G. McKanna, age 64, of Walnut, Illinois died Thursday, October 1, 2015 at his home.
Larry was born on January 11, 1951 in Aledo, IL the son of Claude and Louise (Diggs) McKanna. He was united in marriage to Barbara Metcalfe on June 2, 1979 in Walnut, IL. He was a carpenter at Walnut Components for 20 years and then worked for Custom Homes for several years. Larry loved fishing.
He is survived by his wife Barbara McKanna of Walnut, IL; two stepdaughters Jean (Jim) Mauar of Orlando, FL, Jennifer (John) Reinke of Wakefield, KS; one stepson Royal (Candace) Blondin of Walnut, IL; six grandchildren; three sisters Nancy (Harvey) Andrew of Walnut, IL, Sharon (Dean) Ege of Mendota, IL, Eloise Minzey of Walnut, IL; one brother Bob (Janice) McKanna of Rock Falls, IL; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one stepgrandson TJ Hall.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A time of sharing will be held on Monday, October 5, 2015 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Garland Funeral Home in Walnut. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at 10 a.m. at the Garland Funeral Home in Walnut with the Rev. Mark Harkness, pastor of the Walnut Methodist Church. Burial of cremains will be in Walnut Cemetery. A memorial has been established to Hospice of the Rock River Valley and the Walnut United Methodist Church in lieu of flowers.
