Leland Lester Wolfe, 94 formerly of Walnut, died Saturday, May 6, 2017 at his home in Rockford. Leland was born on April 25, 1923 in Walnut, the son of John and Daisy (Kimmel) Wolfe. He was a United States Army Veteran and served in WWII in communications. Leland married Gloria Pierson in 1945; she preceded him in death in 1962. He worked at International Harvester in Rock Falls and then retired from Chrysler in Belvedere as a tool and dye maker. Leland loved dancing, gardening and his Ham Radio. He is survived by his daughter, Diana Halley of Phoenix, Ariz; his sons James (Sandra) Wolfe of Nipomo, Cal and David Wolfe; three grandchildren, Lori Wolfe, Kristin Halley and Matthew Halley; five great grandchildren, Sabrina, David, Tawni, Logan and Jaida and three great, great grandchildren, Emma, Riley and Ava. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; five sisters, Margaret Wallis, Mildred Eldon, Irene Sidebottom, Avis Bousam, Norma Hobbs; three brothers, John, Ivan and Robert Wolfe and two grandchildren, Collin and Carrie Wolfe. Visitation will be on Monday, May 15, 2017 from 12:00-12:45 P.M. at the Garland Funeral Home in Walnut. Graveside service will follow at 1:00 P.M. at the Walnut Cemetery.
