Leonard G. Strader

            WALNUT – Leonard G. Strader, age 79, died Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at Perry Memorial Hospital, Princeton.

            Leonard was born on July 4, 1941 in Princeton the son of Ben F. and Mildred (Beaver) Strader.  He married Mary Jane Haefner on June 6, 1964 in Dixon.  Leonard was employed as Assistant Superintendent with the Village of Walnut for 41 years retiring in 2005.  He also served on the Walnut Fire Department for 35 years and was a member of the First Christian Church in Walnut.

            Survivors include his wife Mary Jane; two daughters, Christine (Don) Mecum of Ohio and Laura (Shawn) DePauw of Buda; one son, John (Jaquie) Strader of Golconda; one sister, Shirley (Gerry) Post of Omaha, Ark.; three brothers, Frank Strader of Walnut, Roger (Joyce) Strader of Chino Valley, Ariz. and Keith Strader of Phoenix, Ariz.; eleven grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren.

            He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, two sisters, one grandchild.

            Private graveside services will be held at the Walnut Cemetery in Walnut.  Arrangements were completed by the Garland Funeral Home in Walnut.

In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established to the First Christian Church.
