Leonard M. Vick

Leonard M. Vick, age 85, of Walnut, died Thursday, December 8th, 2022 at his home.

          Leonard was born January 11, 1937 at Perry Memorial Hospital in Princeton, the son of Marion and Florence (Grossman) Vick.  He graduated from Ohio High School in 1955 and later married Katherine Weerts on November 17, 1962 at the First Lutheran Church in Ohio.  Leonard owned and operated the third generation family farm in Walnut, Bureau County, IL.  He was also employed by Custom Homes and Thacker Farms.  He was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Ohio where he served communion, served as an usher, and was a member of the church council.  Leonard assisted with starting the JC’s in Walnut, was a lifetime member of the Farm Bureau, and a 50+ year member of the Walnut Masonic Lodge No. 722.

          He is survived by his wife, Katherine (Weerts) Vick of Walnut; his four children, Lisa (Don) Saletzki, Kim (Kevin) Tressel, Marty Vick, and Eric (Lisa) Vick; seven grandchildren, Danielle (Brad) Gapinski, Paul Saletzki, Melissa Tressel, Courtney Tressel, Stephanie Tressel, Morgan Vick, and Madison Vick; two great grandchildren, Declan Gapinski and Oliver Jackson and another Gapinski great grandchild on the way.

          He was preceded in death by his parents.

          Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2022 from 9:30 – 11:00 AM at the First Lutheran Church in Ohio.  The funeral will follow at 11:00 AM with Reverend Leo Patterson officiating.  Burial will conclude at Walnut Cemetery.

          A memorial has been established to Masonic Lodge 722 in Walnut or you are welcome to donate to the organization/charity of your choice.
