Lester L. Atwell

Lester Atwell, 88, of Walnut passed away on October 14, 2025, at Allure of Walnut.

Lester was born on May 29, 1937, in Atkinson, the son of Arlo and Blanche (Van De Rostyne) Atwell.  He was a 1955 graduate of Atkinson High School and was united in marriage with Karen Franks on July 12, 1958, in Atkinson.

Les was a long-time employee of Cady Grain in Deer Grove and V&C Construction in Walnut.  He enjoyed horseback riding, woodworking, doing puzzles and spending time with family.

Survivors include his daughters Lori (Jay) Middleton, Kamey (Sam) Ganschow, Teri (Noel) Carr, and son Todd (Heather) Atwell; grandchildren Aaron (Hannah) Ganschow, Jordan (Brandy) Ganschow, Brad (Claire) Middleton, Ben (Katie) Middleton, Ashley (Chris) Culjan, Maddi (Matt) Gossett and Mason Carr; great-grandchildren Gavin, Mia, Quentin, Lukas, Grant, Brynlee, Ava, Theodore, Rorie, & Kennedy; sister Sandy Roman; 3 brothers-in-law and 4 sisters-in-law; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his wife Karen and his parents.

As was Lester’s wish, the family will hold a private viewing at Garland Funeral Home.
