Lloyd L. Johnson, 96 of Rock Falls, died Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at Rock River Hospice and Home in Sterling.
Lloyd was born on November 22, 1926 in Princeton, the son of Carl and Ella Johnson. He was a United States Army Veteran and proudly served in WWII where he was a MP in Germany. He married Arlene Barth on September 9, 1951 in Walnut. She preceded him in death on October 26, 2019. Lloyd was a lifetime farmer and also farmed with son and grandson. He enjoyed taking rides to check his crops and liked flowers and gardening. Lloyd loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, whom called him Great Johnson. He was a 76 year member of the Walnut American Legion, a past member of the school board, served on the Hahnaman Township committee, and was a longtime member of the Red Oak United Methodist Church in Walnut.
Survivors include his children, Ron (Joni) Johnson of Walnut, Denise (Randy) Cady of Tampico, Doug (Colleen) Johnson of Janesville, WI, Linda (Troy Ottens) Mitchell of Prophetstown, and Pamela (Mike) Lawrence of Prophetstown; ten grandchildren, Jennifer Johnson, Brett (Kate) Johnson, Kimberly (Justin) Kelly, Jeffrey (Kristie) Cady, Myles (Madi Bockheim) Johnson, Ian (Allie Erdmann) Johnson, Ella Johnson, Hunter Mitchell, Kiylie Eads, and Caley (Kyle) Wayne; and nine great grandchildren, Brennan (Heaven), Ashleigh, Coggin, Kaehler, Gillian, Austin, Harrison, Owen, and Khloe.
He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; and his siblings, Arnold, Medora, Pearl, LaVerne, and Russell.
A private family graveside service with full Military Honors will be held at Walnut Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Garland Funeral Home.
