Lois Dremann, age 89, of Ohio, IL, died on Tuesday, April 6, 2021.
Lois was born in rural Walnut, IL, on April 15, 1931, to Walter L. and Doroth A. (Plapp) Baumgartner. She graduated from Walnut High School and received her bachelor’s degree from Illinois State Normal University in 1953. Lois taught one year in Forrest, IL before marrying Ivan Dremann in 1954.
After her marriage, Lois worked as a substitute teacher in Ohio, Walnut, Mendota, and Amboy, culminating in a permanent position as a home economics teacher and, lastly, librarian in Ohio Community Schools. Lois was also an accomplished speaker at Mother/Daughter banquets and women’s meetings, and a long-time member of The Gideons International Auxiliary, serving in leadership positions and the local jail ministry. Her passion to serve God through serving and supporting others touched the lives of many students and young women at her church, in the community, and through her jail ministry.
Lois is survived by her husband, Ivan Dremann, of Ohio, IL and five children, Nancy (John) Leichty, of Ft. Wayne, IN; Alan (Joyce) Dremann, of Edelstein, IL; Herb (Kathy) Dremann of LaGrange, GA; Mary (Randy) King, of Alamogordo, NM; and Janet (Bruce) Farra, of Coatesville, PA. In addition, Lois is survived by ten grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Ilene (Robert) Swigart.
Lois is preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, Ruth (Wayne) Geeting, Doris Baumgartner, Emily Baumgartner, and her brother Roger Baumgartner.
A public visitation, with social distancing and a maximum of 50 people at a time, will be held on Sunday, April 11, at Garland Funeral Home (Walnut) from 1:00-3:00 pm. A visitation at Kasbeer Community Church on Monday, April 12, at 9:00 a.m., will preceding the funeral at 10:00. A graveside service will be held at Oaklawn Cemetery (Princeton). A luncheon following is by invitation only.
