Louis Rigby Maxwell, Jr., age 88, of Princeton, died Wednesday, March 11, 2026 at Allure of Walnut.
Lou was born June 7, 1937 in Washington, DC, the son of Louis R., Sr. and Lydia Marie (Ellis) Maxwell. He was a 1960 graduate of American University and later that year, enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. Lou became First Lieutenant on March 26, 1962 and was a decorated Officer at N.I.H. in Bethesda, MD. He was an avid outdoorsman which led him to work at many National Parks from the Grand Canyon to the Everglades. After retirement, Lou enjoyed being an “unofficial greeter” at Wal-Mart.
He is survived by his three daughters, Laura Maxwell, Susan (Michael) Phillips, and Catherine (Timothy) Munson; eight grandchildren, Samantha Salk, Mackinley Salk, Alexandra Beetz, Elliot Beetz, Austin Campbell, Abigail Campbell, Claire Helson, and William Munson; and three great grandsons, Jack Janata, Mackinley Salk, Jr., and Miles Salk.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Jean Stringham.

Cremation rites will be accorded. There are no services at this time.
