Lucilla F. Gugerty, 87, of Ohio, IL, died Wednesday May 5, 2021 in Zephyrhills, Florida.
She was born December 27, 1933 in Marathon, Wisconsin, the daughter of Joseph Michlig and Margaret (Imhoff) Michlig. She married Arthur Gugerty on Nov. 8, 1952, at St. Louis Catholic Church in Princeton. Together they raised seven children.
Lucy was loved and adored by her family. She was an exceptional chef. Her kitchen table was always crowded but required no reservation. When the meal was finished the regulars knew to keep their fork for a fabulous dessert and if they were really lucky, it would be pie.
Lucy was the Ohio Village Clerk for over two decades. She was a dedicated member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Ohio. She loved to golf, play bridge, and start her mornings with her coffee buddies. Lucy, along with Art, were model retirees enjoying summers in Illinois and winters in Florida. They taught their family how to live life to its fullest.
Lucy was a remarkable woman with great strength and fortitude. She was an inspiration to her children and grandchildren.
Surviving are three sons, James (Elisa) Gugerty of Tucson, Arizona, Joseph (Judy) Gugerty of Ohio and Jerry (Kelsey) Gugerty of Princeton; three daughters, Catherine of Ohio, Colleen (Tom) Yucus of Ohio and Karen (Jay) Payan of Sterling; seventeen grandchildren, Sean Gugerty, Michael (Teresa) Gugerty, David Gugerty, Timothy Gugerty, Christopher (Chelsey) Yucus, Matthew (Ashley) Yucus, Jennifer Yucus, Mark Yucus, Abram (Gracie) Yucus, Sarah (Jeff) Egan, Carly (James) Wike, Jake (Shelby) Payan, John Payan, Cate Payan, Josh Payan, Rhylan Hubbard-Gugerty, Greyson Hubbard-Gugerty; eight great-grandchildren, Grace, Colton and Sophia Egan, Eleanor, James, Charlotte and Lillian Wike, and Magnus Yucus; two sisters, Theresa (Harry) Burrows, Sylvia Metter, and brother Michael (Cheryl) Michlig; three sisters-in-law, Kathy Michlig, Carol Michlig and Carol Gugerty.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years Arthur, their son, Jeffrey, and four brothers, Harvey, Leander, David, and Joseph Michlig.
Visitation will be held on Thursday May 13, 2021, from 9:00-10:15 A.M. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Ohio, IL. Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 A.M. at the church with Reverend Thomas Shaw, Celebrant officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary's Cemetery in Ohio.
