Maria Elena (Barrientos) Csukor, will be laid to rest Saturday, June 1, 2024, at 10:00am alongside her beloved husband, John L. Csukor Sr., at Assumption Catholic Cemetery, 1S510 Winfield Rd, Wheaton, IL 60189.
Maria eternally joined our Lord and Savior Christ Jesus, the morning of Thursday, May 23, 2024. She is also now in the presence of her husband John L. Csukor Sr. (1934-2000) and her daughter Cecilia Csukor-Butler (1964-2013).
Maria and John met in 1962, while John traveled to witness the World Cup Soccer Championship games in South America. Maria was born in Valdivia, Chile, but was going to school in Santiago when they met. Maria joined John in the US the next year and they began their lives as an American couple raising their two children in the Western Suburbs of Chicago, IL.
John, an accomplished musician, was also a loyal member of the IAM Machinists Union for over 30 years, while Maria went on to receive her degree in nursing, and through her gifts touched countless lives. Her nursing career brought her to care for the well-being of the Mother Baby unit at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, as well as the honor of caring for seniors at Walnut Manor in Walnut, IL.
Maria retired and lived in the small Illinois community of Tiskilwa. She loved to garden, keep her bird feeders full, and enjoyed chatting with loving neighbors on her walks and on her front porch.
Maria’s life is celebrated and honored this day by her son, John L. Csukor Jr. and his wife Mary Ann (Hooton) Csukor; their two sons, John L. Csukor III and Joshua Edwards Csukor; along with Maria’s two grandsons, Matthew Butler and Peter Butler-Csukor; extended family of nephews, nieces, and great nephews and nieces all join in this celebration of life.
Maria is also survived by her loving family in Chile: Pedro (brother) and Juanita Millaguin; and their daughters, Nadia (Marcelo) and Roxanna (Pedro).
Maria always wished kindness and love for all, and to celebrate her life…Philippians 4:4.
Always be joyful in the Lord!
