Marilyn E. Burmeister, age 93, of Walnut, died Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at Heritage Health in Walnut.
Marilyn was born April 15, 1926 in rural Manlius the daughter of Walter and Matilda (Johnson) Durham. She married Reuben T. Anderson on March 19, 1945 in Walnut. He preceded her in death on November 25, 1992. She later married Laverne Burmeister on October 18, 1999 in Walnut. He preceded her in death on September 26, 2010. Marilyn was employed at Sterling Home Hospital, then worked for Dr. Mullin for 20 years and as a bookkeeper at Atherton Grain for 40 years. She was a member of the Walnut United Methodist Church, the Walnut American Legion Auxillary, and the Sterling Moose Club. Marilyn enjoyed polka dancing, camping, playing dominos and going to Florida for 17 years.
She is survived by two daughters, Nancy (Gary) Sarver of Walnut and Peggy Parmley of Normal; two step daughters, Karen (Kim) Orendorff of FL and Llynn Burmeister-Roberts of Walnut; six grandchildren, Cheryl (Jeff) Miller of St. Louis, MO, Sara (Frank) Taylor of Bloomington, Joel (Linda) Sarver of Sheffield, Deanna (Ben) Tedder of Bolingbrook, Michael (Christine) Stauter of Bloomington and Stacy Wynn of Normal; fifteen great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; numerous step grandchildren and step great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by both husbands; her parents; one daughter, Carol Stauter; one son-in-law, Mike Parmley; two brothers, Glenn Durham and Orville Durham; and one sister, Lois Durham Ohda.
Visitation will be Saturday, February 1, 2020 from 1:00 – 2:00 PM at the Garland Funeral Home in Walnut. The funeral will be Saturday at 2:00 PM at the funeral home with Pastor Jeff Miller and Reverend David Poust of the Walnut United Methodist Church co-officiating. Burial will be at Walnut Cemetery.
A memorial has been established to Friends of Strays in Princeton.
