Mary Lou Clinton, 84 of Ohio, died Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at her home.
Mary Lou was born on May 13, 1937 in Kewanee, Illinois, the daughter of John “Max” and Evelyn (Douglas) Brain. She graduated from Kewanee High School. She married James Clinton on October 8, 1955 in Kewanee. He preceded her in death on November 19, 2006. Mary Lou worked at Harper-Wyman for over 20 years, retiring in 1999. She then worked as a librarian in Ohio. She enjoyed working on her lawn, her flowers, listening to music, playing Bridge, watching sports, and doing crossword puzzles. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Ohio where she was a lector, eucharistic minister, and the secretary of the OCCW.
Survivors include her four children, Cheryl Sims of Arlington, IL, Michael “Mike” (Lisa) Clinton of Cherry, IL, James “Jim” (Donna) Clinton of LaMoille, IL and Cynthia “Cindy” (Jeff) Byers of Princeton, IL; one brother, Steven (Catlin) Vosburgh; three sisters-in-law, Jane Freres, Patricia Brocken, and Kathy Clinton; nine grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; and her beloved dog JJ.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sister, Nancy Helmick; brother, Robert “Bob” Brain; beloved aunt, Mary Ostmen; five brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 3, 2021 from 4:00-7:00 P.M. at the Garland Funeral Home in Walnut with the rosary to be recited at 3:30 P.M. Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at 10:00 A.M. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Ohio, IL with Reverend Thomas Shaw, Celebrant, officiating. Burial will conclude at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Ohio.
Memorials may be made in her memory to Immaculate Conception, the Ohio Library or a local fire department of your choice.
