Mildred V Russell

Mildred “Midge” Russell, 98, of Walnut, and formerly of South Jersey, died on Friday, November 19, 2021 at Heritage Manor in Walnut. Midge was born on July 24, 1923 in Camden, NJ, the daughter of James and Naomi (Batten) Lewis. She married Gerald Russell on August 23, 1947 in Cramer Hill, NJ. He predeceased her on December 11, 2007. After her husband’s death, Midge moved to Walnut with her granddaughter, Kimberly.  Midge could often be spotted at the Walnut Café gabbing with her friends and was a was a member of First Christian Church in Walnut. She was employed as a dental assistant in NJ and a nutritionist aide  while living in the Poconos. Midge’s family will remember her as being a force of nature and having the “Gift of Gab!”

Survivors include one daughter, Lois Lotruglio of Sterling; one son, Bruce Russell of Egg Harbor, NJ; four grandchildren, Kimberly (Bryan) Good of Walnut, David Russell, Jared Russell, and Jade (Trisha) Russell, all of Egg Harbor, NJ; two great grandchildren, Kailah (Reid) Peterson of Walnut, and Jackson Russell of Egg Harbor, NJ; and one great-great grandchild, Kaden Peterson.

Midge was preceded in death by her parents; husband Gerald; and one sister, June Hartigan.

Cremation rites will be accorded. Interment will be held in New Jersey at a later date. Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
