Nelda Gloden Hylla

Nelda Gloden Hylla passed away at home, with her daughters by her side, on January 20, 2022, at the age of 89 after a courageous battle with cancer. They will strive to honor her memory by living their lives to the fullest.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Hylla and parents, Dale and Verna Gloden.

Nelda worked at Centinela Hospital in Inglewood, CA as the Director of Medical Records and also in the Medical Records Department at UCLA.  Nelda earned her master’s degree in Health Administration in 1989. Her entire family was all so very proud of her achieving this goal!

Life’s simple pleasures such as crossword puzzles, needlepoint, reading and attending UCLA basketball games brought the greatest joy to Nelda, as well as spending time with her family.

She is survived by her daughters:  Susan (Richard) Ouellette and Renee (Douglas) Lavery, her sister, Gayle Andersen of Zion, IL and her only grandchild who was the light of her life: Shelby (Noah) Lavery.

A visitation will be held on Friday, February 4, 2022 from 10:00-11:00 A.M. at the Garland Funeral Home in Walnut. Funeral service will follow at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home. Burial will conclude at Walnut Cemetery in Walnut.
