Norma A. Olson

            Norma A. Olson, age 89, of Tremont, died Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at Liberty Village in Princeton.

            Norma was born November 10, 1931 in Alexandria, Nebraska the daughter of Robert and Elsie (Draper) Wilkinson.  She graduated from Manlius High School in 1949 and was Valedictorian of her class.  She married Arthur Olson on June 26, 1949 in New Bedford.  He preceded her in death on December 16, 2011.  She was employed at Avanti Food Service in Walnut for many years.  Norma was a wonderful cook and enjoyed bird watching and her flowers.  Her biggest joys in life were her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She was an active member of the Tremont United Methodist Church and was a  member of Royal Neighbors.

            She is survived by three children, Jerry (Rhonda) Olson of Tremont, Norine (Jeff) Townsend of Ohio and Debbie Fonder of Urbana; one daughter-in-law, Mary Anne Olson of Walnut; one brother, Weldon (Kay) Wilkinson of Normandy; nine grandchildren, Anne (Kenny) Olson, Jonah Fonder, Eric Fonder, Inga Fonder, Ritchie (Taylor) Fonder, Stephanie (Adam) Bartko, Andrew (Kevin) Townsend, Becca Olson and Jeremy Olson; four great grandchildren, Lucas Bartko, Logan Bartko, Brandon Lauritzen and Jeremiah; several nieces and nephews; and special niece, Bobbi Jean (Wayne) Sherman of Oglesby.

            She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; one son, Richard “Buffalo” Olson; and one brother, Robert Wilkinson, Jr.

            Visitation will be Saturday, August 21, 2021 from 11:00 – 11:30 AM at the Garland Funeral Home in Walnut with the funeral service following at 11:30 AM with Pastor Cathy Clark officiating.

            A memorial has been established to the Tremont Rescue Squad.
