Olive B. Nielsen, 98 of rural Tampico died Wednesday August 31, 2022 at Rock River Hospice & Home.
She was born on November 23, 1923 in Salisbury, England the daughter of John and Dorothy (Gray) White. During the war she worked at an ammunition factory in Salisbury, England. She married Kenneth J. Nielsen on October 11, 1944 in England and moved to the United States in 1946. He died June 20, 1974. She and her late husband farmed near Tampico for the past 66 years. Olive was a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church in Morrison and active in the quilting group of the church. She enjoyed gardening, knitting and in the past camping.
Survivors include her children: Monica Anderson, Roger (Jane) Nielsen and Brenda (Douglas) Adams; her brother Cecil (Valerie) White; 13 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren and 30 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son John Nielsen in 1975; her sister Brenda Gray; and two grandchildren: Ricky Nielsen and Aaron Anderson.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday September 6, 2022 from 5-7 PM at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Morrison. The funeral will follow on Wednesday at 10 AM at the Bethesda Lutheran Church with the Reverend Tammy Anderson, Pastor and the Reverend Cory Hartz co-officiating. Burial will conclude at 1 PM at Oak Knoll Memorial Park in Sterling. Arrangements completed by the Garland Funeral Home, Tampico.
