Patricia L. Atherton Patricia L. Atherton, age 68, of Walnut, died Monday, November 25, 2019 at her home surrounded by family. Patti was born October 14, 1951 in Princeton the daughter of Ralph and Eunice (Wiggim) Thompson. She married R. Bruce Atherton on February 10, 1973 in Manlius. Patti was employed as a flight attendant for American Airlines and also LCN Door Closures in Princeton. She also enjoyed traveling and taking trips with girlfriends, Bruce and family. She was a member of the Walnut United Methodist Church where she was active on the church board. Survivors include her husband of Walnut; one daughter, Jaime Atherton of Gilbert, Ariz.; two sons, Lucus (Amanda) Atherton of Palmetto, Fla. and Ryan (Kimberly) Atherton of Walnut; four sisters, Sue Ann (Larry) Frank of Princeton, Jane (Pete) Miller of Harmon, Julie Thompson of Walnut and Lisa (Greg) Heaton of Dixon; three brothers, Dave (Jill) Thompson of Clear Lake, Calif., Gene Thompson of Souix Falls, S.D. and Thomas Thompson of Braceville; and seven grandchildren, Andrew, Haley, Hannah, Madison, Harrison, Landry and Karlee. She was preceded in death by her parents and one daughter-in-law, Margaret and one nephew Brett Thompson. A gathering of family and friends will be Friday, November 29, 2019 from 4:00 - 7:00 PM at the Garland Funeral Home in Walnut. A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 30, 2019 at 11:00 AM at the Walnut United Methodist Church with Reverend David Poust officiating. Burial will take place at Walnut Cemetery at a later date. Memorials have been established to the Walnut United Methodist Church, the CJD Foundation and Vitas Hospice.
