Phyllis A. Johnson, age 93, of Walnut, died Saturday, July 23, 2022 at Greenfield Retirement Home in Princeton.
Phyllis was born March 25, 1929 in Walnut, the daughter of James and Dorothy (Hoffman) McElvania. She married LaVern Johnson on September 14, 1947 in Walnut. She was a homemaker and was active in school organizations and 4H. Phyllis was a member of the First Christian Church in Walnut where she was the church organist for many years. She owned her own business in Walnut, Our Home and Yours, until she retired. But she never retired from making her famous cinnamon rolls for those she loved.
She is survived by her four daughters, Penny (Kris) Lauritzen of Lanark, Sharon (John) VanLanduit of Walnut, Kayla (Steve) Johnson-Subaric of Chicago and Cara Lee Guinn of Davenport, IA; one son, Roger (Dana) Johnson of Kansas City, KS; one daughter-in-law, Jill Johnson of Princeton; one sister, Betty Rollo of Walnut; one brother, Jim (Linda) McElvania of SC; nine grandchildren, Jenny (Dale) Larkin, Aaron Grenter, Jodi York, Jason (Renae) VanLanduit, Justin (Erin) VanLanduit, Zac (Kenadi) Johnson, Valerie Johnson, Collin (engaged to Hannah) Guinn, and Cade Guinn; eleven great grandchildren, Jacob and Libby Larkin, Erik and Matthew Grenter, Alex and Gabe York, Eric and Nolan VanLanduit, Rourke , Raynor and Ryker VanLanduit; and one great great grandson, Rowan Grenter.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and one son, Larry Johnson.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, July 31, 2022 at the Heaton Shelter (Walnut Park District) from 2:00 – 5:00 PM with a service at 3:30 PM. Food will be served from 2:30 – 4:30 PM.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
